Bulletin announcement for John R. Powers CTA campaign

Dear Bulletin Editor:

As Catholics we have a story to tell—a story of faith and redemption. Most often we hear this story in our Churches, schools, or religious media. This summer, Loyola Press is telling a part of the Catholic story on a different medium—the CTA.

Starting July 30, 2007, Loyola Press will run a month long campaign advertising the Loyola Classics by Chicago’s storyteller, John Powers. The trilogy of John Powers’ humorous and inspiring novels focus on Catholic life in Chicago. Some of your parishioners will remember these popular novels: The Last Catholic in America, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect up?, and The Unoriginal Sinner and the Ice-Cream God; other parishioners will be introduced to these hometown classics. As a part of re-publishing these popular titles, Loyola Press has included new introductions and discussion questions for reflection.

The campaign will run on the CTA Red-line trains and the Roosevelt platforms, which serve the Red, Orange, and Green lines. Over 5 million commuters will see the campaign, which runs the duration of the summer.

BULLETIN POSTING:

What do the CTA, Chicago, and the Catholic Church have in common? This summer the CTA Red-Line trains and Roosevelt platform will be displaying ads for Chicago’s own Catholic storyteller, John Powers, author of Chicago’s favorite Catholic novels: The Last Catholic in America, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, and The Unoriginal Sinner and the Ice-Cream God. Back in print with new introductions and questions for reflection, these novels are the perfect summertime read.
